Genetic testing could bolster radiotherapy's effectiveness against cancer

Can a genetic picture of how your tumor will react to the many treatment techniques available help doctors prescribe therapies customized for individual cancer patients' needs? Possibly - a group of scientists including Jian-Jian "J.J." Li at Purdue University has found a trio of proteins often present in cancer cells that can protect tumors from destruction by radiotherapy. Although promising, much work remains before the concept will have application at the clinical level.
